Since 2007 Mercedes-Benz has proudly partnered with the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) – the oldest and largest public art museum in Australia and one of the top 25 most visited galleries in the world.

The collaboration is realised with Mercedes-Benz role as Principal Partner for some of the NGV’s most anticipated, popular and well-attended exhibitions.

During the life of the partnership, Mercedes-Benz has supported the exhibition of works by major artists including Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Jean-Michel Basquiat x Keith Haring, Alexander McQueen and Andy Warhol with Ai Weiwei for the enjoyment of Australians and overseas visitors to the NGV alike.
 

Staged across 100 exhibitions in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Melbourne Design Week is an annual 11-day tour de force of talks, tours, exhibitions and workshops celebrating design in all its guises, from architecture to industrial, landscape, fashion, craft and urban design.

Each year, under the overarching theme of ‘Design the world you want’, the week is informed by three pillars relevant to the opportunities and challenges facing contemporary designers.

In 2024, designers involved in Melbourne Design Week are responding to the pillars of Ecology, Ethics and Energy.

For the fifth year, Mercedes-Benz Australia presented the annual Melbourne Design Week Award, offered for an outstanding contribution to Australia’s largest international design event. The winner was announced on the opening night of Melbourne Design Week 2024.
