FAQs

Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle FAQ's

The electric era is here, and our vehicles can help you seamlessly make the switch. They feature:

- Powerful and very efficient drivetrain that delivers an enhanced driving experience (e.g. maximum torque from a standstill).

- Reduced noise, vibration and harshness compared to internal combustion vehicles, and pre conditioning (heating and cooling) as a standard feature.

- Battery certificate* that guarantees the battery’s maximum capacity as a standard service.

Every all-electric Mercedes-Benz is fitted with a wide range of safety features. These include Automatic Crash Shutdown, which disconnects the battery and the High-Voltage System in the event of a crash. Also, the battery is secured by a Penetration Protection and Scraper Shield made of special plates and deformation structures to help ensure it remains intact in the event of a collision. Plus, the vehicle’s Protection Zone Concept places all the high-voltage components in the least accident-prone positions within the vehicle.

Subject to mileage limits for vehicles used in commercial applications**, the Owner Protection Plan for EQ provides 5 years unlimited kilometre coverage, including coverage for the 12-volt battery for 3 years unlimited kilometre coverage. The EQ Owner Protection Plan also covers the High Voltage (HV) Battery for 8 years or 160,000km, whichever occurs first, with some models covered longer*. All precautions, which are usual and reasonable, have been taken to ensure the quality of the materials and workmanship in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. However, if any manufacturing defect arises and is presented to one of the Company’s Authorised Mercedes-Benz EQ Retailers or Authorised Mercedes-Benz EQ Service and Parts Centres within the protection period outlined in the terms and conditions, and upon examination of the vehicle, if the defect is confirmed and caused by defective material or workmanship, Mercedes-Benz Australia will repair the vehicle and/or replace (at its election) the defective part at no cost to you**.

*The High Voltage (HV) battery for the EQE and EQS is covered for 10 years or 250,000km, whichever occurs first.

As part of Mercedes-Benz Ambition 2039, we aim to make our entire fleet of new vehicles net carbon-neutral along the entire value chain and over the vehicles' entire life cycle by the year 2039. At present, CO2 neutrality is a central criterion of our supply chain and production, and we implement various initiatives to power sustainability. For example, Mercedes-Benz Energy Stationary gives batteries a second life by recycling and remanufacturing them.

Our all-electric vehicles provide an ideal way to access a more sustainable electric mobility lifestyle.

The driving range of our all-electric vehicles varies across models and variants. Also, their range is influenced by factors such as individual driving style, load, fitted accessories, traffic conditions, wind, vehicle design, speed, ambient temperature, and road surface and conditions, as well as vehicle and battery conditions.

You can estimate the range of each of our all-electric models with our Range Calculator.

Whether you’re at home or on the go, you’ll have plenty of ways to recharge your all-electric Mercedes-Benz.

For home charging, you can use a standard household socket, but this is a slower method. You may prefer to install a Mercedes-Benz Wallbox, which is significantly faster. Depending on your model and your household’s capabilities, it can provide of up to 22 kW of charging power, and you can control it easily in the Mercedes-Benz app.

When you’re out and about, you can recharge at an ever-increasing amount of public charging stations. With MB.CHARGE Public, our exclusive charging service, you’ll enjoy access to Chargefox, Australia’s largest public network. It offers more than 2,200 locations nationwide, including Ultra-Rapid stations.

All-electric Mercedes-Benz models need to be serviced every 25,000kms or after 1 year – whichever occurs first. They have fewer moving parts compared to vehicles with internal combustion engines, and feature regenerative braking systems that help extend the life of brake pads. Therefore, while routine maintenance is still required, all-electric vehicles may cost less to service over time.

Please see the Owner’s Manuals to learn more about vehicle specific service intervals.
