As we accelerate into an all-electric future, the range of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow, combining future-focused technology with unrivalled comfort and performance.

The expansion of our EV line-up goes to the heart of our Ambition 2039 initiative. Aimed at achieving a net carbon-neutral vehicle fleet across the entire value chain, this sustainable business strategy encompasses the extensive use of recycled materials and renewable energy in production and the electrification of our vehicle fleet.

Let’s take a closer look at how Mercedes-Benz EVs are equipped for now and tomorrow, as well as our current line-up.

Innovative battery technology

Mercedes-Benz EVs run on state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery packs built for longevity and performance.

As part of Ambition 2039, we are integrating renewable materials into the EV battery production process and developing innovative recycling solutions for when they reach the end of their life. The construction of a battery recycling factory in Kuppenheim, Germany, demonstrates our dedication to innovative recycling solutions, and is an important initiative for reducing overall resource consumption. Ultimately, the goal is to use today's old batteries as a mine for the batteries of tomorrow

All our EV batteries are covered by an 8-10-year High Voltage (HV) warranty (depending on the model) and allow for ample driving ranges. The new Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ SUV and Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ SUV, for example, boast a NEDC-tested range of 578km and 564km respectively. Given that Australian drivers travel on average around 33km a day, this is more than enough for most drivers, allowing them to do everything from their daily commute to longer weekend road trips without interruption.

Convenience and savings

Whether you opt to lease or buy an EV, our EV leasing offers and financing products can be adapted to your specific needs. If you prefer to purchase an EV, we’d be pleased to discuss our offers and prices with you.

There are some potential savings associated with leasing or owning an EV. For example, a higher Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold exists for fuel-efficient vehicles resulting in lower LCT amount on EVs. The Australian government introduced a Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) exemption for eligible zero or low-emissions cars purchased on or after July 1, 2022 – you can find out more information or check your eligibility here

Some states and territories also offer discounted stamp duty rates and/or registration charges. For example, in Victoria, a $100 discount is automatically deducted from the registration fee of zero or low-emissions vehicles.

Flexible charging options

To account for the busy lives of modern drivers, Mercedes-Benz offers various EV charging solutions to suit different needs:

- Home charging: the optional Mercedes-Benz Wallbox provides fast and convenient charging at home, with a maximum charging power of up to 22kW, six metres of cable length and a type-2 connector.

- Public charging: when you drive a Mercedes-Benz EV, you get access to a nationwide charging network through Mercedes me Charge. This integrated service allows for easy location, activation and payment at EV charging stations – including Chargefox stations - to Mercedes-Benz owners in Australia. Whether you’re driving in the city or on the motorway, the nearest suitable charging point will be conveniently displayed in your vehicle via MBUX or the Mercedes-Benz App on your smartphone.

- Fast charging: all Mercedes-Benz EVs come with DC fast-charging capabilities for rapid top-ups during long journeys.

From August 1, 2024, all newly purchased Mercedes-Benz full battery electric vehicles will receive a one-year unlimited free charging subscription to all Chargefox public charging stations. This subscription encompasses all station types (UR, DC and AC), which is sure to provide greater value and convenience to Mercedes-Benz customers.

However you choose to top up your range, it won’t take long before you’re back on the road. Both the new EQA and EQB SUVs, for example, can be charged from 10-80 per cent in approximately 35 minutes using a DC fast charger. At home, the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox can fully charge a Mercedes-Benz EV in about 5.5 hours depending on conditions, making overnight power-ups convenient and efficient.
