As we accelerate into an electrified future, the range of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow, combining future-focused technology with unrivalled comfort and performance.
Let’s take a closer look at how Mercedes-Benz EVs are equipped for now and tomorrow, as well as our current line-up.
Innovative EV batteries
Mercedes-Benz EVs run on state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery packs built for longevity and performance.
The batteries in our all-electric vehicles are covered by an 8-10-year High Voltage (HV) warranty (depending on the model) and allow for ample driving ranges. The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ SUV and Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ SUV, for example, boast an NEDC-tested range of 578km and 564km respectively. Given that Australian drivers travel around 33–38km a day, this is comfortably sufficient for most, allowing them to do everything from their daily commute to longer weekend road trips without interruption.
Convenience and savings
There are some potential savings associated with leasing or owning an EV. For example, a higher Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold exists for fuel-efficient vehicles resulting in lower LCT amount on EVs. The Australian government introduced a Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) exemption for eligible zero or low-emissions cars purchased on or after July 1, 2022 – you can find out more information or check your eligibility here.
Some states and territories also offer discounted stamp duty rates and/or registration charges. For example, in the Northern Territory, from 1 July 2022 until 30 June 2027 you can receive free registration for new and existing EVs.
In addition to these upfront and ownership incentives, EVs can also have lower running costs. While the cost of charging an EV varies depending on a number of factors including usage, the Electric Vehicle Council says that taking advantage of lower-cost electricity – whether from daytime solar or off-peak overnight tariffs at home or work – can deliver savings of up to 90% compared to petrol or diesel vehicles. Whether you opt to lease or buy an EV, our EV lease offers and financing products can be adapted to your specific needs. If you prefer to purchase an EV, we’d be pleased to discuss our offers and prices with you.
Flexible EV charging options
To account for the busy lives of modern drivers, Mercedes-Benz supports various EV charging solutions to suit different needs – including the option to charge an EV at home.
• Home charging: The optional Mercedes-Benz Wallbox provides fast and convenient charging at home, with a maximum charging power of up to 22kW, six metres of cable length and a type-2 connector.
• Public charging: When you drive a Mercedes-Benz EV, you get access to a nationwide charging network through Mercedes me Charge. This integrated service allows for easy location, activation and payment at EV charging stations – including Chargefox stations – to Mercedes-Benz owners in Australia. Whether you’re driving in the city or on the motorway, the nearest suitable charging point will be conveniently displayed in your vehicle via MBUX or the Mercedes-Benz App on your smartphone.
• Fast charging: All Mercedes-Benz EVs come with DC fast-charging capabilities for rapid top-ups during long journeys.
Select Mercedes-Benz EVs – including the EQA, EQB, EQE and EQS SUVs – receive a one-year unlimited free charging subscription to all Chargefox public charging stations. This subscription encompasses all station types (UR, DC and AC), which is sure to provide greater value and convenience to Mercedes-Benz customers.
However you choose to top up your range, it won’t take long before you’re back on the road. Both the EQA and EQB SUVs, for example, can be charged from 10–80 per cent in approximately 35 minutes using a DC fast charger. At home, the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox can fully charge a Mercedes-Benz EV in about 5.5 hours depending on conditions, making overnight power-ups convenient and efficient.
