The School of Life comes to Mercedes me

The School of Life comes to Mercedes me
May 2019
From now until September 2019, Mercedes me Store Melbourne is hosting a series of inspirational workshops with The School of Life.
Since its opening in 2017, the Collins Street concept store has put on more than 90 events across a diverse range of topics, with a key focus on community leadership. Simon Johnson, the general manager of Mercedes me Store Melbourne, says that collaborating with the emotional intelligence experts at The School of Life makes perfect sense, given their commitment to education and innovation.
“We really love The School of Life's philosophy,” he says. “And we felt that it would be a great thing to open up to the community in the Mercedes me space.”
The School of Life was founded in 2008 by philosopher Alain de Botton to help people lead more fulfilled lives. After establishing its base in London, the organisation has expanded to nine other cities around the world, including Paris, Amsterdam, Istanbul and Melbourne, where it helps people have thought-provoking discussions about the big things in life – work, relationships, socialising and culture.
The Mercedes me Store series focuses on living with passion and purpose, and impactful storytelling.
The next event, ‘A Night of Better Conversations: Happiness’ (June 5; 6.30 to 8.30pm), will feature journalist and teacher Myke Bartlett, who will be discussing how we experience happiness, and whether there is also a place for melancholy in the human condition.
This will be followed by 'A Philosophy Salon: Identity' (July 3; 6.30 to 8.30pm) and 'A Night of Better Conversation: The Good Society' (August 7, 6.30 to 8.30pm), also facilitated by Myke Bartlett. These events will look at how we see ourselves in a world dominated by social media, and what makes a healthy society.
Finally, to round out the series, Dumbo Feather editor Nathan Scolaro will facilitate ‘The Art of Storytelling with Dumbo Feather’ (September 5, 6.30 to 8.30pm). This session will explore how you can find meaning in some of the key experiences of your life and give them a narrative arc.
At each event, you can enjoy light grazing plates and a welcome drink courtesy of ST. ALi.
Read more about the sessions on the Mercedes me website and book your tickets today.
