• Drivability and safety inclusions rated highly with judges
• Third title in a row is unprecedented
Melbourne - The popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been named Australia's Large Van of the Year for the third year in succession by highly-regarded industry magazine, Delivery.
It is the first time in the award's history that any vehicle has won an award in any category three years in a row.
The Publisher and Managing Editor of Delivery magazine, Chris Mullett, said the Sprinter's win is unique. "The Sprinter won due to a combination of driveability and the extensive number of safety features and inclusions. The category is very competitive but the judges believed the Sprinter was the superior vehicle in the category."
Diane Tarr, Managing Director for Mercedes-Benz Vans, said the fact that the Sprinter was not only recognised as No.1 in the industry but also the best selling large van in Australia for the past 17 years is testament to the quality of Mercedes-Benz.
"To be judged No.1 in this category is great news for us and our dealers. To have the accolade three years in a row is amazing and the team in Australia is extremely proud that the Sprinter is recognised again as the true industry leader."
The Sprinter was tested against the Iveco Daily, Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato, Volkswagen Crafter and Renault Master.
The Delivery judges' said of the Sprinter: "Its seamless gear changing, well performing engine, excellent ride and handling and, above all, its wide-ranging set of safety features, including cross wind assist, lane departure assist and adaptive cruise control set the standard others have to follow."
