Melodie Veverka has seen her business flourish since she started working from the back of an elegantly customised Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
Melodie, the founder of DBC Showroom, drives more than 30,000 kilometres a year along America’s east coast visiting fashion boutiques to sell them the designer clothes she has beautifully racked in the back.
But her Sprinter is far more than a carry van, it’s a luxury showroom featuring a custom-designed leather couch for clients to sit on, wooden flooring, high-end fittings, hanging racks for the clothes and a special display area for the items being considered.
LED globes provide the perfect lighting to see the clothes in and there’s plenty of storage hidden away for accessories and paperwork.
“I started selling out of my car, a convertible, because that’s what we had,” Melodie said.
She kept the clothes in the boot and a collapsible fashion rack on the back seat.
“But I quickly realised that wasn’t going to work. When I got a Sprinter, it changed everything.
“We’ve now gained so many new accounts there’s not even enough time to see them on an annual basis. We need a second Sprinter!”
With DBC Showroom taking the idea of travelling sales to a whole new level, Melodie now has a five year plan to have a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter fashion display unit in every state in the US – all 50 of them.
And why not?
As Melodie said “Who doesn’t like doing business in a Mercedes?”
